Konami recently unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, confirming its release date. The trailer also revealed the return of the beloved Snake vs Monkey mode from the original PlayStation 2 game. This quirky mini-game features characters from PlayStation’s Ape Escape series. However, it has now been clarified that this crossover won't be present in all versions of the remake.
In the Xbox version of the game, the iconic Pipo Monkeys will be replaced by another cameo character: Bomberman, who is owned by Konami, the publisher of Metal Gear Solid, rather than PlayStation. The trailer describes the return of Snake vs Monkey on PS5 and Steam, but with a note that a different special game will be implemented for the Xbox version. Fans will have to wait for more details on this alternate mini-game.
At the end of the trailer, a silhouette of Bomberman is shown, but it's unclear whether the mini-game will be identical to the original Snake vs Monkey mode.
Last year, VGC had the opportunity to go hands-on with the first 90 minutes of Metal Gear Solid Delta and came away impressed by what was revealed. The preview described the remake as a promising return for the franchise, with great gameplay, stunning visuals, and the campy charm that fans love.
