If your build is still missing key upgrades, a few D4 items can help you reach the point where these bonuses start paying off, but the nodes themselves should guide your long-term plan.

Build Your First Route Around Helltides

Helltides are a strong starting point because their best nodes improve both enemy events and chest farming. Hellmouth adds more value whenever a Hellwyrm appears. The event can create a Chaos Rift, spawn Maggots that burst into Experience Orbs, or call in Bloodseekers with a better chance of dropping Ancestral gear. Fall of the Fell is just as useful for players chasing Tortured Gifts. It makes Harbingers appear from falling meteors twice as often and doubles the Aberrant Cinders they drop. You will notice the difference quickly, especially during short farming sessions.

Choose Rewards That Match Your Current Goal

The Undercity tree is most attractive when you care about Tribute quality. Initiative activates after you find the District Boss and treats your Attunement as two levels higher, up to level six. That means better rewards without spending extra time building Attunement through the run. For levelling, Wisdom of Whispers is the easier recommendation. Whisper Caches provide 50 percent more Experience Orbs, which is handy for a fresh character or an alt that needs to catch up.

2. Take Wisdom of Whispers when experience is holding your character back.
3. Use Initiative before farming valuable Undercity Tributes.
4. Unlock Infernal Hordes nodes when Masterworking becomes the main bottleneck.

Save Infernal Hordes for Material Farming

Infernal Hordes becomes much more focused with the right War Plan choices. Method and Madness makes a new Infernal Offering more likely to share a category with the choice you just made, so you can pursue a preferred reward type with less luck involved. Forged in Flame changes the reward pool by replacing Gem Fragments with Obducite. That matters once your equipment is strong enough that Masterworking, rather than basic levelling, is slowing you down. Plan your unlocks around the next obstacle, and even cheap D4 items will fit more naturally into a wider farming strategy.
