FC 27 players have had a few weeks to get used to the game, and the first major gameplay adjustments are now on the way. EA says Title Update 1.2.0 is planned for mid-November, although there's no confirmed release date yet. Whether you're saving FC 27 Coins for a new defender or simply trying to stop conceding straight from kick-off, there's plenty here worth watching. The game arrived on September 25, but EA held off on early tuning while it gathered match data. Update 1.1.0 landed on October 27 and addressed problems across several modes without altering gameplay balance. This next update is different: it's intended to change what happens on the pitch.
Full-backs and the defensive line
If you've watched a full-back linger a few yards behind the rest of your defence, you'll know why this is getting attention. One misplaced defender can keep an entire attack onside. Then comes the through ball, and suddenly your centre-backs are chasing towards their own goal. EA wants full-backs to hold their line more consistently and follow runs only when there's a real threat. It hasn't promised the problem will disappear completely, so don't expect a flawless offside trap every time. Attackers are also supposed to judge the line better and time their runs to stay onside. Those two changes should make the contest feel fairer, rather than simply shutting down through balls. For now, some players use a stay-back instruction and manually move their full-backs forward. After the update, try a few matches without that instruction too. You might find you need the extra width when you've got possession.
More support in attack and fewer easy kick-off runs
There's help coming for players who get stuck carrying the ball around the edge of the box. AI-controlled attackers should make more useful runs into open space, giving the player on the ball another pass to look for. That could be handy if you play with two strikers or rely on an attacking midfielder arriving late. It doesn't mean every run will be perfect, though. You'll still need to spot the movement and play the pass at the right time. At kick-off, the defensive line is expected to sit higher instead of dropping deep straight away. Anyone who's conceded moments after taking the lead will welcome that. Equally, if your own restart routine involves sprinting through the middle, it may not be as reliable. Give the new setup a chance before piling on an aggressive press; the defenders behind you might already be in a better position.
Player switching and the issues still being examined
Some of the most frustrating moments happen after the first challenge, not during it. The ball breaks loose and the game selects a player who's nowhere near it. EA is targeting automatic switching after a teammate's slide tackle, after a headed pass and after a shot goes wide. In those situations, the game should do a better job of selecting someone close to the ball. That matters around your own penalty area, where a second's delay can turn a clearance into another shot. Other topics remain under investigation and aren't listed for this update. They include extremely high defensive lines, physical collisions between different player types, certain shooting situations and goalkeeper positioning. There's no timetable for those areas, so it's best not to build your expectations around them. EA has also said players have improved their shooting, passing and manual defending since launch, which helps explain why it waited before making adjustments.
What to do before the update arrives
Write down your current tactics and player instructions before installing the patch. Then play a few low-pressure matches and compare what you see, especially at kick-off and when defending through balls. You may need only a small adjustment rather than a complete rebuild. The transfer market is harder to predict. Faster attackers could have less space to exploit if full-backs hold their positions, while defenders with strong positioning and interception attributes might become more appealing. Strikers who make intelligent runs could benefit too, but prices won't necessarily move as expected. If you're considering a squad upgrade with cheap Fut Coins, it's worth testing the new gameplay before committing your budget. Wait for the release notes, check that your game has updated, and judge the changes over several matches rather than one awkward goal.
